Jenner & Block Conference Center
Chicago, IL
July 21, 2011
Steve Armstrong, IL Chapter President, hosted a breakfast meeting to kick off the rebirth of the IL Chapter. More than 50 professionals woke up early to hear Steve and the “Sustainability Angels” Susan Hedman, Regional Administrator, USEPA Region 5, Lisa Bonnett, (Interim) Director, IEPA and Karen Weigert, Chief Sustainability Officer, City of Chicago present their respective sustainability visions for the Midwest Region, State of IL and City of Chicago and how the sustainable redevelopment of Brownfields plays an important role.
This was a unique event where the leadership from three key agencies came together to present their sustainability vision, explain how they are working together to make the region more sustainable and show the opportunities that it will create for business, the environmental community and civic/not-for-profit organizations.
Presentations focused on Climate Action plans, Green Clean Ups and putting renewable energy projects on Brownfields sites. Steve Armstrong closed the event by connecting the dots between sustainability and Brownfields and asking the audience to be part of the IL chapter and help implement the vision that was presented by leadership. For more information on how you can be part of the NBA IL chapter, please contact Steve Armstrong at sarmstrong@jenner.com or 312.923.2712. The NBA thanks Jenner & Block for hosting this event and Cardno Entrix for its sponsorship.
